Applications are being accepted for Superintendent of Building Standards. Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and supervises the interpretation, enforcement, and administration of City building codes and related ordinances and standards.  Performs related administrative, supervisory, and technical work as required.  Requires an Associate’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field, supplemented by four to five years of experience in field inspection and plan review, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must possess Building Official certification from the ICC and must obtain Floodplain Manager Certification from the ASFPM within the first 6 months of employment.  Annual salary $66,800 DOQ.  Medical Insurance and excellent benefits provided. The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker I – Public Utilities – Public Services.  Under frequent supervision, installs, locates, maintains and repairs water and sewer system components. Performs related duties as assigned. Reports to the Utilities Foreman.  Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one year of experience in construction work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must possess valid state driver’s license.  Annual salary is $25,590.  Health insurance and excellent benefits provided.  Applications (see above for form) will be accepted at the Operations Facility, 61 Clay Pit Road, North Augusta, SC 29841.  This position will remain open until filled.  EOE

 

The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Planner. Performs professional urban planning tasks including the administration of zoning and development regulation, collecting and analyzing data related to City planning, land use and other issues, and writing technical reports and memoranda. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in urban and regional planning, public administration, or geography with a minimum of three to five years experience in city planning, land planning and research, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Master’s Degree is preferred. AICP certification is also preferred.  Must possess a valid driver's license. Annual Salary $57,841. The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Officer.  Patrols assigned areas of the City and responds to calls for service, performs fire suppression, emergency medical first responder, dispatch, and related public safety duties.  The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  Must have a valid S.C. driver's license.  Annual salary is $45,299.  A completed Application for Employment (see link above for application form) and copies of birth certificate, Social Security card, high school (or equivalent) or college diploma, and DD Form 214 (if applicable) should be submitted to the Public Safety Department, 444 East Buena Vista Avenue, North Augusta, S.C. 29841.  Medical insurance and excellent benefits providedPosition will remain open until filled.  EOE

 

The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for a Part-time Environmental Technician - Stormwater Management Department.  The Environmental Technician will work 8-16 hours per week at a rate of $12.00 per hour.  The job duties include the following:

  • Conducting and/or assisting with stormwater education and outreach activities at Brick Pond Park, city seminars or at local schools
  • Preparing spreadsheets, environmental reports, environmental planning documents, and marketing and outreach materials
  • Conducting water quality monitoring in city streams and assisting with statistical analysis of data, preparing reports, and resource management option analysis
  • Integrating information and GPS data points with GIS maps of stormwater infrastructure; GPS mapping of storm drainage structures
  • Assisting with implementation of resource management software and data collection;
  • Work on special stormwater projects based on training, experience, and input of qualified applicant.  
  • And other related duties within the stormwater management department;

The position requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or Environmental/Science Education or a candidate that is at least a junior working toward a BS in these fields.  Candidates must have experience with business computer software (MS OFFICE) and be comfortable, capable and excited about learning additional software or data analysis packages.  Strong computer skills are a plus.  Other key qualifications include: a self-starter, quick learner with the ability to comprehend and understand scientific information and provide that information in written and verbal formats in an understandable way to scientists, non-scientists, and the general public (youth, adults and seniors).  Attitude of the candidate should be enthusiastic and flexible.  Candidate must be able to carry equipment (up to 40 lbs.) over rough or rugged terrain several hours at a time in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) and must be able to remove manhole lids up to 80 lbs. City residency preferred but not required.  Must possess a driver’s license.
